ANNOTTO BAY HOSPITAL
Challenge:
Clever Doodle Design was approached for branding a hospital in rural Jamaica. While Annotto Bay Hospital offered reduced healthcare options for people in the underserved area. Because many rural people in Jamaica do not trust doctors or the healthcare system, it was important to update the hospital brand and make the hospital seem safer, welcoming, and more appealing to the St. Mary community.
Solution:
The logo:
a serif font gave the logo a more organic and welcoming feel. We also decided to incorporate two sans serif uppercase Ts which on one hand formed a cross (in keeping with the strict religious beliefs of the people) and also when viewed at a distance, form the letter H with a heart in the center, signifying Hospital. I suggested that the logo be placed atop the hospital so that it would be visible to those living in close proximity to Annotto Bay and also to those living in the hills. Being that the literacy rate is quite low in the community, residents would become familiar with the symbol in the logo, and when they encountered the large blue Ts, they would know that they could get help and treatment in a safe environment.
